Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy
- Policy Statement
Windsor Park Equestrian Club (WPEC) endorses the principle of sports equality and strives to ensure that everyone involved in our activities, whether as a competitor, groom, spectator, official, or volunteer, has a genuine and equal opportunity to participate based on their abilities and ambitions.
We aim to ensure that no one faces discrimination or disadvantage due to their age, sex, gender identity, disability, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, religion, race, ethnic origin, nationality, or sexual orientation. WPEC is committed to providing a welcoming environment where every individual’s rights, dignity, and worth are respected. We firmly believe that everyone should enjoy their sport without the threat of intimidation, victimisation, harassment, or abuse.
- Legal Obligations
WPEC is committed to avoiding and eliminating unfair discrimination in all aspects of equestrian sport. We take a zero-tolerance approach to harassment and discrimination, aligning with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 and other relevant legislation. The club will fully cooperate with investigations conducted by relevant authorities in cases of unlawful discrimination or harassment.
- Positive Action
Beyond legal compliance, WPEC is dedicated to taking proactive steps to address barriers—whether physical, cultural, or perceived—that hinder access to participation in our club and related activities. We actively support initiatives that facilitate greater access to equestrian sport for underrepresented groups and individuals facing barriers to participation.
- Implementation
To promote equality and inclusion within WPEC, we will implement the following measures:
- A copy of this policy will be available on our website and upon request.
- The club will collaborate with surveys and initiatives designed to assess participation levels and ensure accessibility for all.
- All members, competitors, officials, volunteers, and committee members are required to support and act in accordance with this policy.
- Training will be provided to relevant officials to enhance awareness and understanding of equality and diversity issues.
- Complaints and Compliance
WPEC considers all forms of discriminatory behaviour unacceptable and in breach of our Code of Conduct. Any member, volunteer, competitor, official, or committee member who believes they have been subjected to discriminatory behaviour is encouraged to raise the issue with a member of the committee or the Safety and Safeguarding Lead.
Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against anyone associated with WPEC who violates this policy. Where necessary, incidents will be referred to the relevant authorities.
Failure to adhere to our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policies and procedures may result in suspension or exclusion from the club and its activities.
