When Julian Burleton stood down from being Driving Secretary at the Regional Event in 2015, rumours circulated concerning the future of the Club.   Despite Julian’s best efforts, no-one stepped forward to take over the Driving Secretary’s role and it essentially fell back on my shoulders, having done the job for the previous 17 years.  An awful lot of cobwebs had to swept away!

With some minor changes to the programme, the season completed and we are now looking forward to the start of the 2016 season.
In preparation, the Committee has been reinvigorated with Ms Averina Snow taking over the important committee role of Treasurer.  Mrs Jodie Shaw has taken over as Dressage Secretary and Miss Alice Pritchard and her family have taken over the task of collecting and rationalising the driving entries.  I am delighted to announce that Mr Dick Lane has kindly agreed to join the Committee as Club Development Officer and he will bring, especially for me, some much needed blue sky thinking.  Ms Joan Smith has kindly agreed to marshal the stewards.

This still leaves some very important gaps at the Club.  First, Mrs Dorothy Harnden will stand down at the AGM on 7th February from being our General Secretary and we desperately need a replacement.  Secondly, we do need a Driving Secretary/Organiser to coordinate the event.  We have had and accepted many kind offers to assist in the actual running of the events but that is quite different from an organiser who ensures that the event takes place and that the times are prepared and published before the event.  Without these two positions being filled, the Club will not be able to continue to offer the level of competition that it has nor will we function as a coherent organisation.  It is inevitable that the events will appear to be disjointed at least from the driving discipline point of view.

To fill the gap, temporarily, I have taken on jobs that I happily did 25 years ago but tempus fugit and I cannot continue to carry out this role.

I therefore ask the entire membership whether one of you would either undertake one of these roles or know somebody who might be prepared to take it on if only for a limited period of time.
We will offer a complete season of competitions this year in accordance with the schedule shortly to be published on the website but this must be regarded as a stop gap measure.
